WASHINGTON, DC -- JANUARY 5, 2010 -- O’Melveny & Myers LLP again has been selected as one of the top litigation firms by The American Lawyer magazine in its biennial “Litigation Department of the Year” competition. The Firm was among five finalists for the 2010 award, the magazine announced. The recognition, and a profile of the O’Melveny & Myers litigation department, are featured in this month’s issue.
“We are honored that our litigation department has been recognized again as part of this prestigious competition,” said Arthur B. Culvahouse, Jr. Chair of O’Melveny & Myers. “We are tremendously proud of the work of our talented lawyers and especially grateful to our clients, who have provided us with the opportunity to serve them in diverse and challenging ways.”
The article, quoting a client, described the Firm’s lawyers as being like “chess masters” for their ability to anticipate potential challenges down the road. Additionally, The American Lawyer praised O’Melveny for being a leader in alternative fee arrangements, for its impressive appellate practice, and for its commitment to pro bono work.
Every two years, The American Lawyer invites members of its AmLaw 200 list to submit a report detailing their significant litigation achievements. This year more than 60 submissions were received. The magazine conducted interviews with clients and opposing counsel before choosing a winner and five finalists. O’Melveny, which won the top honor in 2004, is one of just two firms to have been named as a winner, finalist, or honorable mention in the competition each year since the award’s inception in 2002.
