WASHINGTON, DC - OCTOBER 02, 2012 - O’Melveny & Myers LLP is pleased to announce that Rachel Janger has rejoined the Firm as a counsel in the Labor and Employment Practice Group. Janger will be based in O’Melveny’s Washington, DC office.

“Rachel’s arrival reinforces our commitment to expanding and bolstering our national and east coast labor and employment capabilities, particularly our Railway Labor Act practice,” said Apalla Chopra, chair of O’Melveny’s Labor and Employment Practice Group. “Rachel’s experience will complement that of Aparna Joshi, who also recently rejoined the Firm. Both of these women will be assets to our thriving Washington employment law practice.”

Janger began her legal career at O’Melveny in 1999, where she developed a national reputation representing employers before the National Mediation Board, in labor arbitrations, and in Railway Labor Act litigation in federal courts. She also advises clients on collective bargaining and labor issues arising from the bankruptcy of unionized employers.

In addition to her work in the aviation industry, Janger has spent more than a decade advising and providing training to clients on compliance with state and federal anti-discrimination and other employment laws. Janger has substantial experience representing clients in Title VII, Americans with Disabilities Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, and wrongful discharge litigation.  She also advises clients on termination and discipline decisions, drafts employment agreements and handbooks, and conducts and supervises internal investigations of alleged discrimination.

“I am excited to be a part of O’Melveny’s vibrant and nationally renowned labor and employment team,” said Janger. “I look forward to handling complex, high-profile litigation for the Firm’s great clients.”

Janger received her B.A. in 1993 from the University of Pennsylvania, and earned her J.D. in 1998 from the New York University School of Law, where she served as associate editor of the New York University Law Review. She is a senior editor of the preeminent treatise on airline labor law, The Railway Labor Act (BNA 2012). Janger rejoins O’Melveny from an international law firm.
