LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA ─ JULY 3, 2012 ─ In its best showing ever, O’Melveny & Myers LLP has been named to The American Lawyer’s 2012 A-List, earning a seventh place ranking. The A-List recognizes the nation’s most elite law firms for stellar performance in the areas of revenue generation, pro bono commitment, associate satisfaction, and diversity representation. This is the Firm’s fourth appearance in five years on the list of 20 firms judged best at balancing the practice of law with their obligations to the profession. This year’s calculations revealed that O’Melveny gained 104 points, posting the biggest increase of any firm on the list.
“The American Lawyer A-List is a measure of well-roundedness,” said Bradley J. Butwin, Chair of O’Melveny. “We are thrilled and deeply honored to receive this recognition again.”
The accompanying article, “Familiar Faces,” highlights O’Melveny’s 87-point increase in its associate satisfaction score on The American Lawyer’s 2011 Midlevel Associate survey and its 11-point increase in revenue per lawyer (with 2011 marking O’Melveny’s most profitable financial year on record) as the two main driving forces behind the Firm’s impressive ranking. As a result of improved communications, roughly 80 percent of O’Melveny’s associates participated in the Midlevel Associate survey, Butwin told the publication, compared to 25 percent the prior year. Butwin also emphasized the Firm’s commitment to nonfinancial initiatives, highlighting a recent partnership with Bank of America Corporation on a pro bono project to aid Hurricane Katrina victims.
