FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Washington, DC—April 27, 2017—O’Melveny was among 33 local law firms honored today for outstanding leadership in pro bono service by the chief judges of the District of Columbia federal courts in a ceremony at the federal courthouse.
The event, the 14th annual 40 at 50 Judicial Pro Bono Recognition Breakfast, honored law firms at which at least 40 percent of all attorneys dedicated 50 or more hours in 2016 to providing free legal representation to individuals with limited financial resources or to charitable organizations. Chief Judge Merrick Garland, Chief Judge Beryl A. Howell, and other DC federal judges were among those who celebrated the honorees.

The event also recognized the ACC National Capital Region Chapter for promoting pro bono work by in-house corporate lawyers and for establishing partnerships with the District of Columbia Bar Pro Bono Center’s Small Business Assistance Clinics, with the Whitman-Walker Legal Services Program, and with the Children’s Law Center.
The D.C. Circuit Judicial Conference Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Services sponsors this annual event to promote the aspirational goal of the Circuit’s Judicial Conference that each attorney contributes at least 50 pro bono hours per year. Law firms with 25 or more attorneys in the District are eligible for recognition.
