LOS ANGELES, CA - September 16, 2009 - For the third consecutive year, O’Melveny & Myers LLP was named among the nation’s best places to work for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) professionals by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation.  The HRC Foundation, America’s largest civil rights organization for LGBT citizens, awarded the firm a Corporate Equality Index (CEI) rating of 100 percent.  The eighth annual index rates employers on their treatment of LGBT employers, consumers, and investors.

The 2010 edition of the CEI rates 590 businesses on a scale from 0 to 100 percent on their treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender employees, consumers, and investors. The survey examined a number of policies and benefits, including the scope of a company’s nondiscrimination policy, diversity training, and for the first time this year, a more detailed review of insurance plan coverage of a broader range of medically necessary treatments for transgender employees without exclusion.

The CEI report is released each fall and provides an in-depth analysis and rating of large U.S. employers and their policies and practices pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees. The ranking is based on information submitted by individual corporations and independent research conducted by the HRC.

“O’Melveny is committed to incorporating diversity into the fabric of the firm’s operations,” said Jacqueline Cranford, Firmwide Director of Diversity.  “Receiving the 100 percent rating by CEI for the third consecutive year is reflective of our values and our dedication to fostering a sense of community through the many programs and initiatives that support our colleagues who are traditionally underrepresented in the law firm environment.”

O'Melveny was named to The American Lawyer's 2009 A-List for the second consecutive year.  The A-List recognizes the nation's most elite firms for stellar performance in the areas of diversity representation, pro bono casework, associate satisfaction, and revenue generation.

The Minority Law Journal ranks O’Melveny as the 20th most diverse law firm among the nation’s largest and most prosperous law firms.
