WASHINGTON, DC -- APRIL 28, 2011 -- O’Melveny & Myers LLP has named Washington, DC partner Jeffrey Kilduff as the firmwide Chair of its Securities Litigation Practice Group. Kilduff has been with O'Melveny for more than 20 years, concentrating on securities litigation and enforcement matters as well as antitrust litigation and counseling. He maintains a wide-ranging practice that has included class action defense, the defense of derivative litigation on behalf of individuals and companies, internal corporate investigations, and compliance counseling. Kilduff's antitrust experience includes numerous class actions involving companies in the insurance, healthcare, airline, and paper industries.
"Jeff has been a valued member of our Securities Litigation Practice for more than two decades and he brings a depth of industry knowledge to this position," said partner and firmwide Chair of the Litigation Department Brad Butwin. "He has successfully helped guide many clients through high-stakes securities matters and we are fortunate to have him in this leadership role. His excellent sense of strategy makes him ideally suited to build on the practice's strong platform developed by former Practice Chair Practice Seth Aronson."
Chambers USA recognizes Kilduff as a top-tier securities litigator and describes him as one of Washington, DC's "major players," and a national "rising star," commending him for strategically managing large scale proceedings. The Legal 500 describes him as a "very fine lawyer, who has great experience in the field." Benchmark Litigation also recognized Kilduff as a star in Washington, DC and one of the star securities litigators in the country.
"We have a great group of highly talented lawyers experienced in all facets of defending securities related matters," said Kilduff. "It is a privilege to lead the group, especially during such a dynamic time. As we witness ever increasing regulatory review and enforcement, the proliferation of securities litigation beyond traditional investor class actions, and a surge of cases being filed against foreign US-listed issuers, I look forward to an exciting period of growth and opportunity for the Firm."
