NEW YORK, NY -- DECEMBER 14, 2009 -- O’Melveny & Myers LLP announced today that it will admit New York-based transactions lawyer Mark Wlazlo to the Firm’s partnership, effective February 1, 2010.

A member of O’Melveny’s Corporate Finance/Capital Markets practice, Wlazlo focuses on representing private equity funds, their portfolio companies, and other institutional clients in leveraged acquisition financings, including senior secured debt, high-yield and bridge financings and mezzanine financing, as well as workouts and restructurings.  He has helped lead several large and complex finance transactions, including the acquisition financing for Apollo Management’s leveraged buy-out of Harrah's Entertainment, the world's largest provider of branded casino entertainment. The transaction consisted of US$9.25 billion of senior secured financing and US$6.77 billion of unsecured senior notes and senior interim loan financing.

“Mark epitomizes the excellence that is the hallmark of O’Melveny & Myers,” said Chair Arthur B. Culvahouse, Jr. “In a clear testament to his intellectual versatility, as the ongoing credit crunch has shifted the focus away from leveraged buyouts over the last year, Mark has not missed a beat. He has crafted creative and sophisticated amendments and provisions for our private equity clients that have become market precedents.”

“The decision by O’Melveny to promote just one counsel to the partnership this year, while a departure from the past, reflects the current economic climate and is consistent with our strategic objective of growing our partnership at levels consistent with our current and immediately foreseeable needs, which has led to a more conservative approach to admitting new partners,” Culvahouse said.

About Mark Wlazlo

Wlazlo joined the Firm in 2002 after receiving his law degree magna cum laude from New York University, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif.  He received a B.S. from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 1999.
