O’Melveny & Myers LLP
LONDON - FEBRUARY 8, 2013 - O’Melveny & Myers LLP was named “Private Equity Team of the Year” at the Legal Business Awards 2013, which were held in London on February 7, 2013.
Legal Business wrote that O’Melveny received the prestigious award “for advising leading global private equity secondaries investor Coller Capital on one of the largest secondaries fundraisings ever, raising in excess of $5.5bn, and on what is believed to be the largest unsyndicated secondaries deal ever completed – the acquisition of £1.03bn of private equity assets from Lloyds Banking Group. Coller has been synonymous with the development of the global secondaries market, which is growing in importance, and OMM has served as its primary outside UK counsel for many years.”
The London-based O’Melveny team who worked on these deals was led by partners John Daghlian, Solomon Wifa, and Daniel Quinn.
In describing its criteria for “Private Equity Team of the Year,” Legal Business stated:
“The winner in this category must demonstrate an ability to land the most significant mandates in an incredibly competitive market for private equity-backed deals. Judges will look for evidence of an ability to move with the market and stand out from competitors on the most eye-catching transactions.”
