NEW YORK, NY - O’Melveny & Myers LLP has named Bradley J. Butwin Co-Chair of the Firm’s approximately 550-member Litigation Department. Together with O’Melveny partner and Litigation Department Co-Chair Robert Siegel, Butwin will be tasked with further growing and developing the Firm’s renowned Adversarial Group. Butwin is resident in O’Melveny’s New York office and Siegel resides in the Firm’s Los Angeles office, establishing a bi-coastal leadership presence beneficial to the Firm and its clients.
“Brad is an accomplished litigator and thought leader, and is highly regarded by his financial services industry clients and throughout the Firm,” said Arthur B. Culvahouse, Jr., Chair of O’Melveny & Myers. “His appointment to this key leadership position reinforces O’Melveny’s focus on representing financial services companies during these challenging economic times. Brad’s new position also reflects the fact that our East Coast litigation prowess matches our Firm’s long-standing heritage as the premiere West Coast litigation firm.”
“I am delighted that Brad and I will be working in tandem to serve our clients at a time when companies impacted by the financial crisis need experienced counsel on whom they can rely to deal with the complex issues they face,” said Siegel. Butwin, a partner in O’Melveny’s Securities Litigation Practice Group, has been an important player in many of the most significant securities-related disputes, representing several of the country’s leading financial institutions in securities litigation matters. See attached biography for list of representative matters.
O’Melveny has long been a litigation powerhouse with a tradition of producing exceptional results for its clients. Among the Firm’s many recent accolades, O’Melveny received top-tier rankings at the US national and state levels in the 2008 Benchmark: Litigation guide, and Chambers USA features 35 O’Melveny litigators.
“I am pleased to be leading O’Melveny’s team of talented litigators with my friend and colleague Bob Siegel,” said Butwin. “I look forward to continuing to help our clients with the myriad issues they face in this unprecedented period.”
Butwin has received recognition and praise from Chambers USA and Legal 500, who note him as being “quick-thinking and versatile,” “extremely well-liked,” and “focused on bringing the expertise of the entire firm to [clients].” Butwin most recently served on the Firm’s Policy Committee and as the Adversarial Department’s New York office leader.
