LOS ANGELES ─ MAY 30, 2013─ O’Melveny & Myers LLP has named Elizabeth McKeen managing partner of the Firm’s Newport Beach office.

As a partner in the Financial Services Practice, McKeen represents mortgage and banking institutions in class actions, regulatory investigations, and other high-exposure matters. She has influenced the financial services field by pioneering strategies to address consumer fraud issues, including disparate impact lending discrimination, foreclosure standing, and robo-signing, that have fueled litigation in the wake of the financial crisis. In addition to traditional litigation matters, McKeen provides strategic advice to mortgage servicing companies regarding their compliance with regulatory obligations. Her innovative work has earned her repeated recognition as a leader in her field by publications such as Daily Journal and Law360

McKeen succeeds Jeff Walbridge, who will become the chair of the Firm’s Tax Practice. Walbridge, who will continue to head O’Melveny’s Executive Compensation & Employee Benefits Practice, ran the Newport Beach office for two years and further strengthened the Firm’s deep roots with local clients doing business in Southern California and around the world.

Walbridge counsels clients from across the country on compensation and benefits issues in the context of mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, private equity investments, and other corporate transactions. He is sought out by boards of directors for advice on addressing executive compensation matters, executive succession and transition issues, and related corporate governance matters.

“Jeff has worked extensively with some of the Firm’s largest clients and with a variety of practice groups, a record that will serve him well as head of our Tax Practice,” said Bradley J. Butwin, Chair of O’Melveny. “Liz was a natural choice to pick up Jeff’s mantle as Newport Beach Office Head as she is already a respected representative of the office through her outstanding client service and many ‘rising star’ recognitions.”
