CENTURY CITY, CA – May 19, 2015 – O’Melveny & Myers LLP partners Daniel Petrocelli and Bruce Tobey have been named to The Hollywood Reporter’s 2015 Power Lawyers List. The annual survey, which names the top 100 entertainment lawyers, is considered the authority on industry power players. Practicing in both litigation and transactions, the three partners selected for the exclusive list reflect the Firm’s strength across both disputes and deals.
Petrocelli is noted for tackling “headline-grabbing” cases such as Fox’s victory against American Idol contestants who claimed racial discrimination, and a series of suits he is handling on behalf of SiriusXM that could have major implications regarding the rights to music made prior to 1972. The Chair of the Firm's Trial Practice Committee, Petrocelli has a national trial practice representing clients in major litigation in a wide variety of areas, including sports, entertainment, intellectual property, unfair competition, business torts, securities, employment law, and criminal defense.
Tobey, a former executive at CBS Films and Paramount and the transactional co-head of the Firm’s Entertainment, Sports and Media Practice, is noted for orchestrating the landmark partnership between Lionsgate and Chinese entertainment brand Hunan TV, in which Hunan will co-finance Lionsgate's US$1.5 billon slate for the next three years. His practice covers all aspects of production, distribution, financing and licensing of feature film and television productions as well as digital media. He also provides strategic and operational advice to investors and companies in both traditional and new media.
The Power Lawyers honorees are members of O'Melveny's Entertainment, Sports, and Media Practice and reside in the Firm's Century City office.
