HONG KONG─ November 3, 2010 ─ O’Melveny & Myers LLP partners Dean Collins and Doug Freeman will be featured speakers at the 23rd annual Asian Venture Capital Journal Forum: Asia’s Private Equity Week 2010, being held November 9 to November 12, 2010, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong.
Collins, a partner in the Investment Funds and Securitization Practice in O’Melveny’s Singapore office, will be on a November 10 panel discussing how the partnership model between General Partners and their Limited Partners can be improved to make it more robust, align interests better and allow General Partners more flexibility in adverse economic cycles. Topics will include a comparison as to how Asian fund terms compare to the Institutional Limited Partners Association principles.
Freeman, a partner in O’Melveny’s Hong Kong and New York offices and a member of the Mergers and Acquisitions Practice, will be on a November 12 panel talking about the rapid growth of Asian leveraged buy-outs (US$18.8 billion worth of deals were completed in 2009) and how sustainable that activity is given the increased cost of capital.
The 2010 Asian Venture Capital Journal Forum will focus on the most pressing issues for private equity, venture capitalists, and RMB-dominated funds as it explores the role of Asia in the global economic recovery. O’Melveny, which has five offices in Asia and is a leading international law firm in the region, joins investment companies, private corporations, and law firms from around the globe at this weeklong gathering. The investment firms that have a presence at this conference represent nearly half a trillion US dollars under management. Last year’s conference drew 1,000 private equity and venture capital professionals from 33 countries representing more than 400 companies last year.
If you’d like to speak with Freeman or Collins about Asian investment trends, please contact Rico Ngai in Hong Kong, and Julie Fei or Sonja Steptoe in the US, at the numbers listed to arrange an interview.
