NEW YORK ─ JULY 28, 2015 ─ O’Melveny & Myers LLP saw a second straight year of gains in Vault’s recently announced Law Firm Rankings for 2016, a seventh appearance on the prestigious American Lawyer’s A-List, and a third consecutive year being named one of the best firms for women by Working Mother and Flex-Time Lawyers.

With nearly 90 percent of O’Melveny associates and counsel responding to this year’s Vault survey, the Firm rose to third on Vault’s list of “The Top 25 Best Law Firms to Work For,” which recognizes law firms that provide the best overall work experience for associates and counsel based on hours, compensation, substantive work, training, and firm culture.

O’Melveny placed in the top 10 for almost every quality of life category and the Firm’s culture and values also were reflected in its sixth place ranking among top firms for pro bono.

In addition, O’Melveny was among the top 10 firms for “Best Overall Diversity,” and ranked highly in the following diversity categories: individuals with disabilities, sixth; LGBT, eighth; military veterans, eighth; minorities, 13th; and women, 17th. Vault also noted O’Melveny’s summer program is one of the best in the nation, ranking second for “Best Overall,” third for “Most Fun,” and fourth for “Best Prepares for Practice.”

“With an extensive history of working big-time cases spread across a diverse array of fields, O’Melveny & Myers boasts expertise in a little bit of everything. Long rooted in California—where it maintains a quintet of offices—OMM has branched out in all directions and now handles everything from entertainment law to M&A,” Vault notes in its profile of the firm.

American Lawyer named O’Melveny among its top 10 A-List firms for the fourth consecutive year. The annual feature, now in its 13th year, ranks “the best of the best in the already exclusive world of Am Law 200 law firms. The 20 firms that made this list are best in show, excelling not just in a single area, but in four separate categories integral to a well-rounded, successful brand: finances, pro bono, associate satisfaction and diversity. It’s an uncommon firm that can pull this off.”

O’Melveny scored highly in the categories of diversity and pro bono work and saw an increase in midlevel associate job satisfaction, according to the publication.

“Our commitment to diversity impacts virtually every decision we make, from choosing the right leaders internally to staffing client matters with attorneys who have diverse experience to recruiting new associates and lateral partners,” said Bradley J. Butwin, Chair of O’Melveny. “Having so many respected publications recognize that is gratifying.”

O’Melveny also was included on Working Mother and Flex-Time Lawyers’ 2015 list of the “50 Best Law Firms for Women,” which lauds firms for their family friendly policies and business development and career development initiatives that help retain women attorneys and advance them in the leadership pipeline. The publication highlighted the Firm’s Women’s Leadership Academy, dominant female trial team, and 2015 partner class that was 44% female lawyers.
