O'Melveny Recognized in American Lawyer’s Global Legal Awards for Advising on Giant Interactive Merger Agreement

The American Lawyer named Giant Interactive Group Inc.’s merger with a consortium composed of affiliates of Baring Private Equity Asia, Hony Capital, and the chairman of Giant’s board of directors as the Global Merger and Acquisition Deal of the Year: China. O’Melveny & Myers LLP represented Giant Interactive, one of China’s leading online game developers and operators, in connection with its entry into the definitive merger agreement. O’Melveny also helped fend off four shareholder lawsuits in connection with the deal, allowing the consortium to acquire Giant for approximately US$3 billion.

The American Lawyer will recognize O’Melveny, and the rest of the Global Legal Awards 2015 winners, on September 28, 2015, at Gotham Hall in New York City. The winners include nine financial deals, six disputes, nine corporate deals, and six examples of social responsibility.
