SILICON VALLEY ─ September 30, 2013 ─ O’Melveny & Myers LLP represented Bureau of Trade in its acquisition by eBay. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

eBay Acquires Bureau of Trade

Michael Phillips Moskowitz, founder of the curated digital marketplace Bureau of Trade, has joined the eBay Marketplaces team and will begin sharing his broad expertise and carefully-honed style with eBay buyers and sellers. This year, eBay enhanced its homepage and unveiled a more personal way to shop the site. To continue this focus on tailored shopping experiences, Moskowitz will be helping eBay’s 120 million active users (as of June 30, 2013) discover items that match their individual tastes and preferences.

“As an influential tastemaker, Michael is perfectly poised to further eBay’s mission of connecting shoppers to the things they need and love,” says Richelle Parham, Chief Marketing Officer for eBay North America, who adds that eBay will benefit from Moskowitz’s perspective of “exceptional goods with a story” in house.

Moskowitz comes to eBay directly from Bureau of Trade, which has been acquired by eBay. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Prior to founding Bureau of Trade, Moskowitz worked at Palo Alto, Calif-based design firm IDEO and co-founded the menswear label Gytha Mander and TODO Monthly magazine.
