SAN FRANCISCO, CA — O’Melveny & Myers LLP announced today that its San Francisco office has been awarded Gold certification under the US Green Building Council’s LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System™. With this distinction, O’Melveny has become the first law firm to receive Gold certification—the next-to-highest rating possible in the LEED scale—for renovated space in an existing building. The Firm relocated its San Francisco office to the custom-renovated space in San Francisco’s Financial District in September 2008.
Guided by its firmwide Green Office Initiative, O’Melveny is implementing sustainable practices across the Firm and taking proactive steps to conserve resources and reduce the carbon footprint of its 14 offices around the globe. As part of this initiative, the Firm seized the opportunity presented by its need for additional space and built an office that sets the standard for responsible, sustainable design, building, and operations.
“As an independent, third-party verification, our high LEED rating means a lot to us because it confirms that our efforts, both in designing and building our office and how we operate on a day-to-day basis, go beyond paying lip service to ‘being green’—they have a meaningful, measurable impact,” said Michael Tubach, Managing Partner of O’Melveny’s San Francisco office.
Guided by its values of excellence, leadership, and citizenship, O’Melveny is dedicated to sustainable business practices and other steps that will help protect and enhance the environment for future generations.
“Our Gold LEED certified San Francisco office is just one piece of a much broader effort we’ve undertaken at O’Melveny to make more environmentally responsible choices across the board,” said partner Eric Rothenberg, Chair of the Firm’s Green Office Committee. “We are all citizens of the global community, and our values compel us to do our part and join our clients and communities in acting as diligent stewards of our shared environment.”
