LOS ANGELES, CA -- JUNE 4, 2015 -- The Daily Journal has named O'Melveny & Myers LLP partners Eric Amdursky, Apalla Chopra, Adam Karr, and Bob Siegel to the 2015 Top Labor and Employment list.

Amdursky talks about how his work with technology companies in Silicon Valley highlights a growing trend of female executives in the industry. He is representing Yahoo Inc. and its executive Maria Zhang in an ongoing sexual harassment and retaliation case. Amdursky also is highlighted for his work with Microsemi Corp. in a class action lawsuit, which was settled favorably.

Chopra, the chair of O’Melveny’s firmwide Labor and Employment Practice, has become a recognized authority on guiding universities through sensitive Title IX issues, making headlines for her work on the University of Virginia’s investigation into how it handles sexual assault reports following a Rolling Stone magazine article about an alleged incident. Her work for client DirecTV also is noted after the state Court of Appeal affirmed a trial court’s decision to compel arbitration in a long-running wage-and-hour claim.

Karr emerged victorious for client H&R Block in a class action before the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, which found that the company wasn’t responsible for compensating seasonal tax preparation professionals for continuing education in the offseason. In the article, Karr said his “most memorable” case in the past year was successfully breaking apart a proposed multi-district litigation against DirecTV to be tried in courts throughout the US.

Siegel has long been a leading authority on airline labor and employment law. The article highlights just a few of his victories for clients in the past year, including a dismissal of claims against United Airlines surrounding pilot seniority following the 2010 merger between United and Continental Airlines, and the dismissal of a lawsuit against American Airlines Inc. surrounding flight attendant seniority after the 2001 merger of TWA and American Airlines.

According to the Daily Journal, the list honors “work that is having a broad impact on the legal community, the nation, and society,” as “employment has been and will remain one of the busiest areas of the law.”
