SHANGHAI, CHINA ─ JANUARY 26, 2012 ─ O’Melveny & Myers LLP’s Asia practice continues to earn honors for its innovative work on behalf of clients, collecting awards from Asian-Mena Counsel, China Business Law Journal, Acquisition International, India Business Journal, and LegalEra.
Long recognized as one of the leading international law firms in the region, O’Melveny has been expanding in Asia since opening its first office in Tokyo about 25 years ago, most recently establishing an association with an Indonesian law office in Jakarta late last year. This growth helped garner the Firm LegalEra’s Rising International Law Firm of the Year award. O’Melveny also was named the Corporate Law Firm of the Year and Emerging Companies Law Firm of the Year (Singapore office) by Acquisition International.
“These accolades reflect the sustained excellence of our Asia team,” said Arthur B. Culvahouse, Jr., Chair of O’Melveny. “We are very proud that the outstanding service they deliver to our clients is being recognized.”
In addition to firmwide recognition, several practices also were spotlighted recently. Asian-Mena Counsel awarded its Restructuring Deal of the Year to Mobile-8 Telecom Finance Company BV and PT Mobile-8 Telecom Tbk in their US$100 million guaranteed secured notes restructuring, which O’Melveny acted as sole international counsel. The India Business Journal highlighted O’Melveny’s role in representing the underwriters in Power Finance Corporation’s US$1 billion follow-on public offering, which it named Deal of the Year. Also, the China Business Journal gave the Firm both its Joint Venture Deal of the Year and the Take Private Deal of the Year awards for its representation of Legendary Entertainment in the formation of film company Legendary East with Huayi Brothers Media Corp., and for its representation of the financial advisor in the Chemspec take-private deal, respectively.

About O’Melveny & Myers LLP’s Asia Practice
O’Melveny & Myers LLP began its practice in Asia nearly 25 years ago, and over this time we have become one of the most respected and full-service legal service providers in the region. The Firm maintains large offices in the most important political and commercial centers of Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, and an association with leading Indonesian law firm Tumbuan & Partners in Jakarta. Most of our lawyers are native to the region, understand the local law and business practices, speak the local languages, and, most importantly, function as an integrated team that taps the Firm’s vast resources in Asia and globally, delivering value and expediency to its clients. The China practice is widely and frequently recognized as one of the strongest on the market. The Japan practice has been recommended by The Legal 500 and Chambers Global for corporate, mergers and acquisitions, and dispute resolution work. Our office in Singapore, opened in 2008, has grown rapidly and is a hub for corporate, finance, and private equity work for the entire South and Southeast Asia region. In late 2011, we established an association in Jakarta, Indonesia, with Tumbuan & Partners. A presence in Indonesia complements our strengths in Asia and Firmwide, and better positions us to serve the needs of our global clients who are increasingly interested in doing business in Southeast Asia region.
