NEW YORK -- December 9, 2014 -- O’Melveny & Myers LLP’s partners George Davis and Howard Heiss have been named 2014 MVP lawyers by Law360.
Davis, a restructuring partner in O’Melveny’s New York office, is recognized by Law360 for his work, including “a harmonious prepackaged deal for Entegra Power Group LLC that wiped out almost half of its $1.5 billion of debt” and “a win in a rancorous $570 million lease-rejection dispute in the bankruptcy of Dynegy” in the Bankruptcy category. He also is highlighted for his pragmatic approach of representing “clients from a business standpoint.”
Heiss, a member of the White Collar Defense and Corporate Investigations Practice in New York, details the Second Circuit reversal of a criminal conviction against a former General Electric Co. executive in his White Collar MVP profile. Heiss and his team argued that federal prosecutors violated a statute of limitation when convicting Peter Grimm on conspiring to violate antitrust laws. The article said, “the successful appeal — a rare instance of the Second Circuit reversing criminal convictions — was the end result of hard work by Heiss and colleagues Mark Racanelli, Jonathan Hacker, Anton Metlitsky and Deanna Rice, as well attorneys for firms representing the two other GE execs.”
Davis and Heiss were chosen from more than 800 submissions among “elite attorneys whose successes in high-stakes litigation, record-breaking deals and complex global matters earned them a spot on this year's list of MVP award winners.”
