LONDON June 24, 2010 The European Antitrust and Competition Practice of O’Melveny & Myers LLP was named “Competition Team of the Year” at The Lawyer Awards 2010, held on June 22 in London.

The practice won the prestigious award on the basis of its tremendously successful work for Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), leading to the European Commission's decision in May 2009 to impose a record-breaking €1.06 billion fine on Intel for its anti-competitive practices in the global x86 microprocessor market.

"We are very proud to receive this award, which recognizes the successes we have achieved for our clients and stands as a testament to the quality and excellence of the work that we perform," said Riccardo Celli, head of O’Melveny’s European Antitrust and Competition Practice.

O'Melveny's AMD team in Europe was comprised of Celli, partner Christian Riis-Madsen, counsel Giovanni Cifelli, and associates Philippe Noguès and Paolo Fucile.

In addition to winning the team award, Celli was a finalist for the “Partner of the Year” award for his leadership during the Intel case.

The Lawyer Awards celebrate excellence in the profession across private practice, the public sector, commerce and industry, and the Bar. In 2010, The Lawyer Awards received its highest ever number of entries. This year's judging panel included representatives from law firms and large corporations including Bank of America, DP World, Rothschild, and BT.
