BRUSSELS ─ OCTOBER 6, 2010
─ O’Melveny & Myers LLP partner Jonathan Sallet will deliver one of two Keynote Addresses at the American Chamber of Congress (AmCham) to the European Union's Innovation Conference, “Innovating in a Global Economy: Lessons for Europe,” on Friday, October 8, 2010.

Sallet, a highly regarded corporate legal strategist, will discuss the best means to restore sustained economic growth and broadly-shared prosperity by giving the US perspective on the case for regional innovation clusters.

Sallet recently joined O'Melveny and is Co-Chair of the firm’s new Integrated Legal Strategies Practice.  The new practice group helps clients assemble the necessary legal and corporate capabilities to build winning legal campaigns that advocate to all of a client's relevant audiences around the globe, including investors, customers, suppliers, competitors, the media, public officials, and employees. Lawyers from the practice group serve as consummate trusted legal advisors, working with corporate counsel not only to play defense when crises strike,  but also to anticipate emerging issues and play offense. The result is an integrated and comprehensive strategy utilizing transactions and litigation advice, regulatory-compliance counseling, and the full range of corporate resources to achieve the overarching goal of making the client company the strongest and most innovative industry competitor.

Prior to joining O’Melveny, Sallet served as a law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Lewis F. Powell, Jr. and was a partner in two nationally known law firms. He is a former Chief Policy Counsel for MCI Communications, where he oversaw regulatory proceedings and merger reviews. Sallet also served in the Clinton Administration as Director of the Office of Policy & Strategic Planning at the Department of Commerce, focusing on trade, technology, and telecommunications issues. He is a Silicon Flatiron Senior Adjunct Fellow at University of Colorado Law School, a Special Advisor on Regional Innovation Clusters to the Center for American Progress, and a member of the Advisory Board of the American Antitrust Institute.

The goal of AmCham's conference is to present concrete case studies, drawn from all over the world, and emphasize the perspective and role of the private sector.  The conference will be a forum in which key policy makers, global business leaders, and innovation experts can share their insights on how to promote and develop innovation in a Europe which is open to the wider world. The recommendations from the conference will be presented to the European Council, the European Commission, and the European Parliament in advance of the December EU summit.
