CENTURY CITY, CA ─ April 10, 2015 ─
Law360 has named O'Melveny & Myers LLP partner Molly Lens among its 2015 "Rising Stars," lawyers under the age of 40 "whose accomplishments belie their age.” Law360 culled the winners from more than 1,200 submissions based on the strength of their career accomplishments in their respective practice areas. Lens was profiled in profiled in Law360 as part of the publication's special series on the 2015 Rising Stars.

In the April 2 profile, Law360 noted that soon after Lens relocated to the West Coast from New York and joined O'Melveny, she quickly established herself as a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood. The publication cites her lead roles in securing key victories for entertainment heavyweights Warner Bros. and Fox Broadcasting Co. among the accomplishments that earned her a place among its rising media and entertainment law stars.

Lens was co-lead counsel for Fox Broadcasting and others related to the hit television show “American Idol” in a federal class action brought by 10 former contestants who alleged they were disqualified from the show due to discrimination toward African-American males. In November 2014, the Southern District of New York granted O’Melveny’s motion to dismiss the case in its entirety. Lens recently finished briefing the matter before the Second Circuit. Lens also continues to represent Warner Bros. in major litigation brought by the estate of J.R.R. Tolkien and HarperCollins Publishers involving videogame and other rights connected to the “Lord of the Rings” franchise.

Lens describes her practice as diverse, spanning intellectual property, employment, trademark, profit participation, and contracts. “Even within the realm of entertainment, I’m handling a breadth of matters. What I learn on one case, I’m then using on another,” she told Law360.

Lens noted that she enjoys working in an industry at the heart of Los Angeles’ economy. “I like working on and in the industry of the town,” she said. “Being able to work on what the city as a whole is interested in, there’s a nice synergy there.” She also told the publication that she enjoys tackling the rapid-fire challenges that stem from the constant change within the industry—from new technology to shifting consumer habits.
