O’Melveny’s London Office Hosts Reception at The Arts Club Welcoming Jonathan Blake, Congratulating Aleksander Bakic on Promotion

London—May 9, 2017—O’Melveny’s London office hosted a reception at The Arts Club to welcome Jonathan Blake, a legendary figure in the private equity funds industry, and congratulate Aleksander Bakic on his promotion to the partnership.

More than 100 clients, fund managers, service providers, and representatives from industry bodies mingled over champagne in the Drawing Room of the historic Arts Club, housed in an elegant 18th Century Mayfair townhouse. Founded in 1863, the Club has included among its members eminent figures, including Charles Dickens, Franz Liszt, and James McNeill Whistler, as well as an array of pre-eminent surgeons, solicitors and professionals.

In welcoming Blake to the firm, Jan Birtwell, managing partner of O’Melveny’s London office, highlighted his pioneering work in the investment funds industry and his continuing prominence as an industry leader.

As Birtwell noted, Blake has been named by Private Equity International as one of the 100 most influential people in private equity and inducted into the BVCA’s “Private Equity Hall of Fame.”

In congratulating Aleksander Bakic on his promotion to partner, Birtwell hailed him as an “an indispensable member of our stellar investment funds practice, with a keen understanding of the market and the ever-changing regulatory landscape.”

Several international O’Melveny guests attended the event, including Washington-DC based partner Jeremy Maltby, who served in the White House Counsel’s Office under President Obama, New York-based partner Andrew Geist, who oversaw enforcement actions for the SEC for 12 years before joining O’Melveny in 2000, and Christian Riis-Madsen, head of the Brussels office and partner in the antitrust and competition practice.
