SILICON VALLEY, CA ─ O’Melveny & Myers LLP partner Meredith Landy, head of the Litigation Department in O’Melveny’s Silicon Valley office and a member of the Firm’s Securities Litigation Practice Group, will be a featured speaker at the Stanford Law School Directors’ College on June 21-23.

Landy, an acknowledged authority on securities-related litigation, focuses on defending issuers, officers, directors, and underwriters in shareholder class actions and derivative matters in state and federal court. She has extensive experience in investigations initiated by the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Department of Justice, and other federal and state agencies and self-regulatory organizations.

Landy recently was named one of the “100 Top Women Litigators 2009,” in California by the Daily Journal for, among other matters, her work counseling semiconductor manufacturer Microsemi Corporation in the high-profile “Diplomagate” matter involving highly sensitive board inquiries, and her successful settlement of federal shareholder litigation against chip design software client Magma Design Automation for less than a quarter of what plaintiffs originally sought. In addition to her work in the courtroom, Landy is a frequent speaker on securities litigation issues and a prolific author, having recently written articles on subprime class-action suits and securities litigation reform for such publications as Investor’s Business Daily.

At the Directors’ College, Landy will participate in breakout panel discussions covering Special Investigations on Monday, June 22. The panel will discuss when and how special investigations should be conducted, how directors should respond to external allegations, and other key issues for directors to consider in preparing for the potentiality of a special investigation. In addition to Landy, speakers at this year’s Directors’ College include Mary L. Schapiro, Chairman of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Carol A. Bartz, Chief Executive Officer of Yahoo!, George R. Roberts, Senior Partner and Co-Founder of Kohlberg, Kravis, Roberts & Co., Steve Miller, Executive Chairman of Delphi Corporation, and Christopher Cox, Former SEC Chairman, and Michael J. Holston, executive vice president, general counsel and secretary of HP.

To arrange an interview with Landy, please phone or email Sonja Steptoe or Piper Hall of the O’Melveny Global Communications Department. Their contact information is listed above.
