O’Melveny’s Olson Leading 2017 Select LA Investment Summit

LOS ANGELES—June 6, 2017—O’Melveny partner Steve Olson will join the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation and World Trade Center Los Angeles in leading the 2017 Select LA Investment Summit. Olson is the founding Executive Director of SelectUSA, the US government initiative to attract increased foreign direct investment (FDI) in the United States. Under Olson’s leadership, SelectUSA helped channel more than US$25 billion in new foreign investment, creating and retaining tens of thousands of jobs.

The June 14-16 Select LA Investment Summit, which will be held at the Sheraton Grand Los Angeles, is a direct offshoot of SelectUSA’s efforts and will feature a keynote address by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, as well as remarks by Los Angeles Councilman David E. Ryu; senior officials from the Larta Institute, Biocom, and Grifols Biological Inc; and the leaders of the LA 2024 Olympic Bid Committee and JPMorgan Chase’s Commercial Bank, among many others. The Summit will bring together global investors with business and governmental leaders from Southern California to facilitate investment opportunities and provide exclusive insights into market trends in the Los Angeles area.

“Los Angeles is the nation’s largest county economy, but investing here can be daunting for foreign companies,” Olson said. “With the Select LA Investment Summit, we really wanted to address the unique needs they face as they discover LA’s many investment opportunities.”

The program will feature high-profile speakers spanning a diverse array of industries and presenting on topics such as trends in entertainment investment, an outlook on FDI and international trade, the rise of Silicon Beach, and the expansion of LA’s bioscience industry center.
