O'Melveny & Myers LLP
NEW YORK -- October 14, 2014 -- The New York Law Journal has named O’Melveny counsel Jerri Shick, pro bono coordinator for the Firm's New York office, one of 2014’s “Lawyers Who Lead By Example: Pro Bono.” She is featured in the publication for her work assisting Holocaust survivors applying for reparations, traveling to Haiti following an earthquake, and more recently helping New Yorkers recover from Hurricane Sandy.
“When you go to law school, you think about all the ways you are going to use your law degree to help people who could not otherwise get access to justice,” Shick said in the article. “It is kind of my dream job.”
Shick won the award for her work on large pro bono projects as well as her day-to-day job managing the Firm’s New York pro bono program and aiding with firmwide pro bono cases. She recently has started a training program that pairs O’Melveny lawyers with city agencies to teach new skills.
