O’Melveny’s Summer Associate Experience Earns High Marks on American Lawyer Survey

LOS ANGELES, CA - September 23, 2013 - O’Melveny & Myers LLP’s 2013 summer associates gave the Firm its highest marks ever on The American Lawyer’s annual Summer Associate Survey.  The Firm jumped to #6 this year, up 16 spots from 2012.

The Summer Associate Survey asks summer associates to measure their job satisfaction in nine key areas, including interest level of the work, how much of it was “real,” training and guidance, interactions with partners and full-time associates, how well the firm communicated its goals, how accurately the firm portrayed itself in interviews, how it rated overall as a place to work, and inclination to accept a job if one were offered.  On a 5-point scale, O’Melveny scored 4.96 overall.

O’Melveny also performed well throughout the country in the regional breakdowns.  The Firm’s Century City, New York, and San Francisco offices ranked #1 in their respective regions—each with a perfect score of 5—and the Newport Beach office again finished at #2 in Orange County.  O’Melveny’s Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., offices also had strong finishes this year, each placing in the top 10.

Earlier this month, O’Melveny achieved high scores on The American Lawyer’s Midlevel Associate Survey and, earlier this year, the Firm vaulted to #4 on the A-List, The American Lawyer’s ranking of the nation’s most elite law firms.  The A-List ranks the 20 most “well-rounded” law firms in the combined areas of financial performance, pro bono, diversity, and associate satisfaction.
