Orange County Business Journal Names O’Melveny to its “Civic 50 Orange County” for Third Year in a Row

September 9, 2019

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEWPORT BEACH—September 9, 2019—For the third year in a row, O’Melveny has been named one of the 50 most community-minded companies in Orange County in a new survey of local businesses. The firm was ranked among the best in the region based upon four dimensions of its community engagement program: investment, integration, institutionalization, and impact.

The award, known as the “Civic 50 Orange County,” is presented by the Orange County Business Journal (OCBJ) in partnership with OneOC, a local organization committed to accelerating nonprofit success. Providing a local standard for superior corporate citizenship, “Civic 50 Orange County” showcases how companies can use their time, skills, and other resources to improve the quality of life in the community where they do business.

Since 2012, the Civic 50, an initiative of Points of Light, has recognized the 50 most community-minded companies in the nation each year as determined by an annual survey developed by True Impact. The third annual Civic 50 OC Awards Luncheon will be held October 16, 2019, at the Hotel Irvine and will feature keynote speaker Neil Bush, chairman of Points of Light. All 50 honorees will be recognized at the event, and five awards will be given.

O’Melveny’s commitment to exceptional client service extends to the underrepresented members of society through the firm’s vibrant and award-winning pro bono practice, which tackles the critical issues of the day, including immigration, housing, women’s rights, foster care, education, veterans affairs, jail reform, and community building. Our clients—from military veterans to couples seeking marriage equality to nonprofits stitching together a social safety net—are as diverse as the communities we serve. And we continue to challenge ourselves to do more.

O’Melveny’s core values of excellence, leadership, and citizenship inform everything we do. Community engagement is no exception.  We work towards providing access to justice, education, and healthcare, supporting sustainability, and promoting diversity and inclusion. We do this, for example, through our veterans’ initiative (O’Melveny Salute), community involvement committees, widespread volunteering, meaningful charitable investments, scholarship grants, mentorship, and key partnerships with clients, alumni, and non-profits.
