O’Melveny Represents Pharmaron in its US$137.5 Million Acquisition of US-based Absorption Systems

BEIJING, November 12, 2020 — O’Melveny recently represented Pharmaron Beijing Co., Limited (300759.SZ/3579.HK) in acquiring 100 percent of the equity of Absorption Systems for up to US$137.5 million in cash.

Pharmaron is a fully integrated contract research and manufacturing organization offering laboratory, CMC and clinical development services for the life science industry.

Absorption Systems is a leading scientific, non-clinical contract research organization CRO that provides pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device companies and regulatory agencies with research and testing for small and large molecules, cell and gene therapies, ocular and medical device products.  Absorption Systems is based in the USA with facilities and laboratories in Philadelphia, San Diego and Boston.

The O’Melveny team was led by partner Portia Ku, counsel Vincent Lin, Carl Erik Heiberg and Wenting Yu, with assistance from associate Lauren Stamey.

Last year, O’Melveny represented Pharmaron on its IPO and listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
