HONG KONG -- January 17, 2014 -- O’Melveny & Myers LLP’s Asia practice has kicked off 2014 with a string of recognitions, including being involved in two finalists for “Deal of the Year” by International Financial Law Review and having leading partners recognized by ASIAN-MENA Counsel.

In IFLR’s Restructuring Deal of the Year category, O’Melveny has been recognized for its role as sole international counsel to the working committee of the holders of the US$325 million guaranteed senior secured notes due 2012 issued by Blue Ocean Resources Pte. Ltd. and guaranteed by PT Central Proteinaprima Tbk (CP Prima) in connection with the restructuring of the notes via a Singapore scheme of arrangement. CP Prima is an Indonesian-listed company that produces and distributes frozen food, largely to international retailers. The O’Melveny team was led by Hong Kong partner Damien Coles, and included valuable support by Singapore partners Bertie Mehigan and Andrew Hutton. In addition, IFLR named O'Melveny's work with US Airways in the merger with American Airlines and American Airlines' Chapter 11 reorganization as a finalist for the Restructuring Deal of Year in the Americas Awards.

In IFLR’s High-Yield Deal of the Year category, O’Melveny has been recognized for its work as advisor to Indonesian-listed investment company PT MNC Investama Tbk as guarantor in connection with its offering of US$365 million of 5.875% senior secured notes due 2018 through its wholly owned Singapore subsidiary, Ottawa Holdings Pte. Ltd. MNC Investama’s core businesses include content and advertising-based media, subscriber-based media, financial services, and energy and natural resources through its holdings and its operating subsidiaries PT Global Mediacom Tbk, PT Media Nusantara Citra Tbk, PT MNC Skyvision Tbk, PT MNC Kapital Indonesia Tbk, and PT MNC Energi. O’Melveny’s Singapore-based capital markets team was led by Hutton and included valuable support from partner Joel Hogarth and other members of the firm’s Indonesia practice group. This transaction was one of the year’s highlights for O’Melveny’s Indonesia securities and high-yield debt group and displayed the unified team’s experience in transactions with both US- and Indonesia-related structuring challenges.

“These accolades serve to underscore the firm’s commitment to having the highest quality lawyers as practice and thought leaders in our core areas of practice across Asia,” said Larry Sussman, managing partner of O'Melveny's Beijing office.

In addition, Beijing partners Sussman and Bingna Guo were named External Counsel of the Year by ASIAN-MENA Counsel. Now in its seventh year, ASIAN-MENA Counsel’s Representing Corporate Asia & Middle East Survey is one of the largest surveys of in-house counsel and buyers of legal services across Asia and the Middle East. Sussman and Guo were chosen as “outstanding private practice lawyers” exclusively by clients and in-house counsel.
