FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Washington, DC—March 9, 2017—O’Melveny is pleased to announce that Sara Zdeb has returned to the firm after having served for two years as Senior Counsel to the General Counsel at the United States Department of Commerce. She rejoins O’Melveny’s White Collar Defense and Corporate Investigations Practice.
As Senior Counsel from 2015 to 2017, Zdeb advised senior Commerce officials on significant legal and policy matters with broad impacts on businesses, including export controls, international trade and investment, and cybersecurity. She also represented the Department in congressional investigations and other oversight matters, and counseled its leadership on risk management and compliance.
Zdeb will work with the practice group to enhance the firm’s comprehensive government investigations practice, helping O’Melveny’s clients navigate high-stakes government investigations, enforcement actions, and regulatory matters with legal, public policy, and public relations dimensions. Drawing on her experience advising on high-profile international matters ranging from crude oil exports to the US government’s policy toward Cuba, she will also counsel clients on export controls and other regulatory and enforcement matters that arise as they compete in a global marketplace.
“Sara’s work at the highest levels of the Executive Branch enables her to counsel clients facing complex, multi-dimensional challenges,” said Mary Patrice Brown, co-chair of the White Collar Defense and Corporate Investigations Practice. “Her legal and crisis management skills will be a great resource for our clients, and we are pleased to welcome her back to O’Melveny.”
Zdeb earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from the Georgetown University Law Center, and her undergraduate degree from Duke University. She is a member of the Edward Bennett Williams Inn of Court and the Military Spouse J.D. Network.
