FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SAN FRANCISCO—September 4, 2018—The National Law Journal named O’Melveny partner Eric Sibbitt to its inaugural list of Cryptocurrency, Blockchain, and Fintech Trailblazers. The list, published in a special September supplement, “profiles a handful of individuals who are making great strides as finance and technology grow more and more intertwined.”

Sibbitt’s profile discusses his start in the fintech field, experience advising clients such as cryptocurrency exchange Bittrex and the underwriters in the US$1 billion IPO of LendingClub, and forecast for the regulatory landscape. The NLJ also pointed to Sibbitt’s work for the Chamber of Digital Commerce’s Token Alliance. “His work in raising the standards of tokens listed on exchanges has highlighted the private bar’s critical role in improving awareness of emerging regulatory issues and implementing best practices,” the NLJ wrote. Sibbitt told the publication these efforts have played an “important part” in pushing the cryptocurrency community to launch and market ICOs in a more cautious way.

As chair of the firm’s Financial Technology Practice, Sibbitt uses a pragmatic approach to navigating the tension between legacy regulations and innovative business models, advising fintech companies, cryptocurrency trading platforms, and investors on financings, token offerings, and securities issues.
