October 02, 2017FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SAN FRANCISCO—October 2, 2017—Luann Simmons, O’Melveny’s managing partner of the San Francisco office, was named among The Recorder’s 2017 Women Leaders in Tech Law, which recognizes lawyers handling game-changing, law-shaping, market-moving work in and around the tech sector.
In an interview with The Recorder, Simmons, a litigator who counts many Silicon Valley heavyweights among her clients, discussed leaders who inspire her, what she sees as the outlook for women in tech, and her advice to young lawyers in tech.
On that last point, Simmons said: “Don’t be afraid to dig into the technology. You need to and can understand the ‘nitty gritty’ if you put in the time and diligence.”
Simmons worked for several years as a software developer and software development manager before attending law school. At O’Melveny, she uses her strong background in physics and computer science to assist technology clients in the enforcement, defense and litigation of patent, trade secret, copyright, and other intellectual property rights.
