LOS ANGELES ─ December 10, 2013 ─ O’Melveny & Myers LLP’s partners Christopher Brearton, Joseph Calabrese, and Libby Savill were named to Variety’s 2014 Dealmakers Impact Report, a feature spotlighting the world’s top entertainment executives, financial partners, and lawyers, making O’Melveny the second most represented firm on the list.
The special report highlights the work Brearton, managing partner of O'Melveny’s Century City office, recently did on four cable TV channel launches. “In a weird way, the subscription-VOD window is really one of the things to get these programs created and financed,” Brearton said in the article.
Century City-based Calabrese is featured for his work with film slate financing, both portfolio-wide and single film. “The good news is there seems to be room for both of those philosophies in Hollywood on the studio and investor side,” Calabrese, Chair of O’Melveny’s Southern California Transaction Practice and Chair of the Entertainment, Sports and Media Practice, said in the article.
Savill is noted for her insider knowledge of the British film industry and entertainment law. A London-based partner of O'Melveny, Savill also is deputy chair of the British Film Institute and is credited as co-executive producer of Oscar winner “The King’s Speech.” Savill specializes in financing of films, especially co-productions, and structured financings of film slates and single pictures.
