Christopher Hunt’s practice focuses on financial services and general commercial litigation. He represents clients in complex civil litigation involving a wide range of subjects including ERISA, federal jurisdiction and procedure, products liability, as well as contract and tort law. His practice also includes advising financial institutions and commercial clients in connection with internal and external investigations. Chris maintains an active pro bono practice in which he advocates for abused children and other clients in need.

In the summer of 2010, Christopher was an SEO intern (Sponsors for Educational Opportunity) in O’Melveny’s Washington, DC office.

  • Represented audit firm professionals before regulators including the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board.

  • Counseled multinational oil and gas company regarding agreements to sell and ship crude oil.
  • Represented health insurance company in litigation regarding payments made in connection with ERISA governed health plans.
  • Represented financial services company in ERISA litigation challenging the inclusion of proprietary investment options in the company’s in-house 401(k) plan.
  • Represents energy company in ERISA litigation concerning selection and monitoring of 401(k) plan investment options. 
  • Representing a financial services company against claims that its compensation of financial advisors is ERISA-governed.
  • Represented pharmacy benefit manager in state regulatory action challenging its claims process. 
  • Defended major pharmaceutical company in a phased, multi-plaintiff personal injury trial.
  • Represented major financial services company in actions alleging breach of representations and warranties in connection with offerings of mortgaged-backed securities.

Employment & Trade Secrets

  • Represented Big 4 accounting firm in defense of trade secret action in Texas state and federal courts.
  • Counseled firm general counsel regarding applicability of statutes and guidelines related to lawyers returning from government service.
  • Spoke on panels regarding the applicability of ethical rules to in-house attorneys.

Bankruptcy

  • Provided counsel regarding Chapter 11 bankruptcy of one of the world’s largest helicopter transportation, search and rescue, and aircraft support services firms.
  • Represented midstream operator in connection with Chapter 11 adversary proceedings.
  • Advised railcar products and services creditor in connection with Chapter 11 proceedings.

Intellectual Property

  • Counseled multinational food, snack, and beverage corporation in connection with trademark infringement suits.

Pro Bono

  • Drafted amicus brief on behalf of consortium of law firms in the Texas Supreme Court regarding the scope of attorney liability under Texas law.
