  • Obtained dismissal of Section 10(b) claims against a Chinese online game developer in a putative securities class action involving a going-private transaction.
  • Defended broker-dealer in federal litigation and three FINRA arbitrations arising from its marketing and sale of auction-rate securities. Obtained summary judgment victory in federal court.
  • Represented a major financial institution in government investigation of foreign bribery relating to hiring, training, and entertainment practices. 
  • Analyzed and advised on numerous internal investigations for clients in media & entertainment and financial services industries.

Olta also maintains an active pro bono practice, focusing on criminal justice issues.

Significant Pro Bono Experience

  • Representing death-penalty defendant at his intellectual-disability hearing in Texas Criminal Court.
  • Represented inmate in a civil-rights action alleging excessive force that resulted in a favorable settlement with the New York City Department of Corrections.
  • Represented domestic-violence victims in petitions for orders of protection in family court.
