Shane Hunt is a litigation counsel in O’Melveny’s Washington, DC* office. He advises health care, financial services, and a variety of other clients in administrative and other complex civil litigation, including matters involving Medicare Advantage and the Affordable Care Act.
Prior to rejoining O’Melveny, Shane served as an attorney at the Office of General Counsel at the US Department of Health and Human Services. There, he represented the agency in federal court litigation, including as a Special Assistant United States Attorney, on matters that included Medicare Advantage broker regulations, cost-sharing under the Affordable Care Act, civil monetary penalties, organ procurement organizations, and various challenges to the prospective payment systems for inpatient hospitals, outpatient hospitals, and home health agencies. He also drafted rulemaking documents and provided advice and training to agency staff and leadership on litigation-related matters involving the Administrative Procedure Act, the Medicare statute, the Affordable Care Act, and the Public Health Service Act.
