Business Homu: Will The US Finally Enact a Federal Data Privacy Act – Comparing Bills Introduced by the Republican Party and Democratic Parties

10월 30, 2020

O’Melveny counsel Yuko Zaha and special counsel Scott W. Pink co-authored “Will The US Finally Enact a Federal Data Privacy Act – Comparing Bills Introduced by the Republican Party and Democratic Parties,” an article published in the October edition of the Japanese publication Business Homu.

The United States is one of the few countries that does not have a national consumer privacy law. After Europe’s GDPR and California’s Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) were enacted, efforts to enact a comprehensive federal data privacy act began to accelerate.

The authors review the various moves toward enactment of a comprehensive federal data privacy act, comparing bills introduced or released by the Republican and Democratic Parties in late 2019 through early 2020.
