Israel: The Next Key Player in the Cybersecurity Industry

February 27, 2017

O'Melveny partner Ron Cheng authored the Forbes.com post “Israel: The Next Key Player in the Cybersecurity Industry,” an interview with Einat Meisel, Head of O'Melveny's Israel Practice, published February 27, 2017.

"As many know, Israel has carved out a strong place in the cybersecurity industry, with many companies there playing a prominent role in cyber defense technology, research and development, and data protection,” Cheng writes in the post. “Indeed, Israel has the world’s second-largest cyber market, second only to the United States.”

Meisel, who is familiar with both the industry and the numerous cross-border transactions involving the area, shared her thoughts on why Israel has become a hub for the cybersecurity industry. “It makes a lot of sense considering the fact that security has been a social, cultural, and political priority throughout the country’s history,” Meisel said. She also addressed the state of the cyber industry in Israel, the types of products and services that are being offered, and global interest—and potential outside investment—in the nation’s cyber industry.

Cheng handles both anti-corruption and data security and privacy matters and is co-located in Hong Kong and Los Angeles. Meisel handles mergers and acquisitions and other transactional matters from her location in Silicon Valley.
