The Deal: M&A No Special Antitrust Concern During Downturns

O'Melveny counsel Sergei Zaslavsky authored this opinion piece on antitrust concerns surrounding the M&A sector during the COVID-19 downturn.
"The Covid-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on public health and the economy. Many political and economic responses have been proposed or already implemented, and many of these are necessary to address the unique challenges posed by the pandemic," Zaslavsky wrote. "When it comes to the proposed merger bans, however, it is not clear how the current crisis creates a 'predatory M&A' problem that justifies a sweeping moratorium."
