The Wall Street Journal: Viewpoint- Sports Venues Face Possibility of Restructuring Amid Coronavirus Fallout

Restructuring partner Nancy Mitchell and Sports Industry Group Co-Chair Irwin Raij co-authored this bylined article discussing the implications of COVID-19 on sports venues.

“Stadiums and arenas across the U.S. are dark due to the coronavirus pandemic. While stadium operators are putting measures in place to reopen (including altering venues to facilitate social distancing), we don’t know what sporting events will look like exactly after society reopens. It is clear that owners of stadiums and arenas—many of them municipalities—will need to evaluate the impact of the pandemic on their financing, particularly if the crisis alters behavior over an extended period,” the lawyers wrote.
