Charity Event for the Centre for Refugees in Hong Kong

January 14, 2020

Did you know there are over 13,000 asylum seekers and refugees in Hong Kong? And that among those displaced, approximately 200 are children and school-age youth?

To help alleviate the plight of refugees in Hong Kong, O’Melveny is pleased to host a charity event with The Centre for Refugees. The Centre provides the most vulnerable—including victims of torture, war, genocide, and other acts of persecution from Africa, the Middle-East, and parts of South Asia facing conflict—with a comprehensive support system that increases their social, financial, cultural, and mental wellbeing. Filling the gap between humanitarian welfare and government aid, The Centre provides emergency shelter, food, education, counselling, and support to empower refugees to be engaged and valued within their new communities.

The evening will feature presentations by student refugees and will include food, beverages, and an opportunity to forge new connections. Attendees will have the chance to bid on and win a range of items donated by O’Melveny and other sponsors. All donations are tax deductible and will support education programs and scholarships for refugees in Hong Kong.

Who should attend?

Anyone interested in helping child refugees in Hong Kong. All members of the business and professional services community are welcome. For more information or to RSVP, please contact Chris Schob at cschob@omm.com.
