Nearly 100 major players in esports turned out for a recent panel discussion on the burgeoning industry hosted by O’Melveny at its New York office. The event, titled esports 360,° provided an overview of the industry and discussed parallels to traditional sports, the increasing popularity and recent investment activity in the esports, and forecasts for its future.
Ben Fischer, staff writer at SportsBusiness Journal, moderated the panel, which included Jared Bartie, co-chair of O’Melveny’s Sports Industry Group; Hal Biagas, executive director of League of Legends North America League Championship Series Players Association; Randy Chappel, managing director of Hersh Interactive Group (Envy Gaming, owners of Team Envy and the Overwatch League’s Dallas Fuel); and Chris Greeley, commissioner of League of Legends North America League Championship Series.
The event, which drew industry insiders and executives, ended with a networking reception.
