Meeker to Co-Chair “Open Source Software 2016”

O’Melveny partner Heather Meeker will co-chair Practicing Law Institute’s “Open Source Software 2016 – from Compliance to Cooperation” in San Francisco on December 21, 2016. The seminar will also be available via webcast.

The annual program explores the unique legal issues facing the open source community that are changing how open source and free software is being used around the world. Attendees will:

  • Learn how open source licenses help build open source communities
  • Keep current on community enforcement norms and the latest enforcement activity
  • Understand how patents and trademarks interact with open source licensing
  • Learn best practices for compliance with open source software licenses

Meeker advises clients on technology transactions and intellectual property-related aspects of mergers and acquisitions, with an emphasis on IT and software. She was recently the recipient of the 2016 IP Vanguard Award by the State Bar of California’s IP Law Section.
