O’Melveny hosted a breakfast panel titled, “Investing in Sports and eSports: Engaging Today’s Fan,” for the New York State Society of CPAs Family Office Committee on March 14, 2018, in the firm’s New York office. Co-chair of O’Melveny’s Sports Industry Group Chuck Baker moderated the event, and partner Jared Bartie served as a panelist, along with clients Dave Checketts, a veteran sports executive, and Marc Lasry, co-owner of the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks.
Baker’s corporate practice encompasses mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and venture capital transactions, with a core focus in the sports, media and consumer sectors. He has represented buyers and sellers of sports franchises in the National Football League, National Basketball Association, National Hockey League, Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer and many of the European football leagues. A nationally recognized sports attorney, Bartie has been named a “Dealmaker” by Variety, a “Power-Player” by SportsBusiness Journal, and “Sports Attorney of the Year” by the National Bar Association, and most recently one of the “Most Influential Black Lawyers in America” by Savoy magazine.
