O’Melveny’s Newport Beach Office Hosts 23rd Annual Sonenshine ReceptionNovember 15, 2018
O’Melveny’s Newport Beach office recently hosted the Sonenshine Pro Bono Reception, an annual event designed to introduce young professionals from Orange County’s largest law and professional services firms to many of the leading pro bono and service organizations in the community.
The event, which was held at The Pacific Club on Nov. 15, 2018, drew more than 120 guests and representatives from over two dozen community organizations, including the Anti-Defamation League, Legal Aid Society of Orange County, and Veterans Legal Institute.
Former California Supreme Court Justice and former U.S. Ambassador to Belize Carlos Moreno served as the keynote speaker, with an introduction from partner Tony Wang. Other speakers included U.S. District Court Judge Andrew Guilford of the Central District of California and former California Court of Appeal Justice Sheila Sonenshine, the founder of the annual reception.
O’Melveny serves on the Sonenshine Reception executive committee of law firms. Each year, a major Orange County law firm, in coordination with the executive committee, takes the lead in hosting this event.
Counsel Ashley Pavel, associate Matthew Smock and associate Joseph Roth led the O’Melveny committee that organized this year’s event.
