O’Rourke to Speak at the American Bar Association Antitrust Section’s Fall Forum

November 18, 2010

O’Melveny partner Ken O’Rourke (LA) will be speaking at the American Bar Association (ABA) Antitrust Section’s Fall Forum on November 18, 2010 in Washington, DC. O’Rourke will be speaking on a panel entitled “Current Trends in State and Federal Civil Enforcement.”

The Federal Trade Commission, the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division and various state enforcers have instituted numerous investigations and brought several noteworthy actions during the past year. Richard Feinstein, the FTC's Director of the Bureau of Competition; Sharis Pozen, DOJ Antitrust Division Deputy Assistant Attorney General and Chief of Staff; O’Rourke and the other panelists will discuss recent federal and state antitrust enforcement trends—including increased scrutiny of business practices and market concentration in the healthcare industry and the use of unfair trade practice statutes to prosecute anticompetitive conduct—and what they signal about future agency priorities.

The ABA Antitrust Section's Fall Forum will bring together senior government enforcers, experienced practitioners and respected scholars to address important antitrust issues currently facing businesses and their antitrust counselors. The one-day program will feature presentations by federal and state antitrust enforcers about their enforcement priorities for the coming year.
