Parker to Speak at ABA’s Antitrust Litigation Program

October 16, 2009

O'Melveny partner Richard Parker will be participating in the ABA’s Antitrust Litigation Program, taking place on October 16, in Washington, DC.

Structured as a mock trial, this program will focus on strategic issues relating to the pre-merger process and merger litigation.  Acting on behalf of the government, Parker will perform a direct examination of the “Competitor CEO” and the “Government’s Economist,” and will also provide the closing argument for the government.

Parker was chosen for this role due to his experience as Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Competition, where he oversaw the investigations of the Exxon-Mobil, BP Amoco - ARCO, and AOL - Time Warner mergers, and was co-lead counsel for the FTC in obtaining a federal court injunction against the mergers of both Cardinal Health Corporation with Bergen Brunswick, and McKesson Corporation with Amerisource Corporation.

Parker and O’Melveny partner Michael Antalics (DC) are well known for being the only two merger lawyers who have won litigated merger cases both on behalf of, and against, the federal antitrust agencies.

7.33 CLE hours is available for this program based on 60 minute hour MCLE states, and 8.80 CLE hours have been applied for 50 minute hour MCLE states.
