Thompson to Speak on Water Scarcity Panel at Pacific Council Event10月 15, 2016
O’Melveny of counsel Buzz Thompson will speak on a water scarcity panel on October 15, 2016, as part of the Pacific Council’s Members Weekend. Thompson will present with Steve Westly, the former Controller and Chief Fiscal Officer of the state of California.
The panel, “Confronting California's Drought and the Global Water Crisis,” will address what California has done on the local level to combat water scarcity and what lessons can be used to tackle the global water crisis.
The Pacific Council was founded as a West Coast outpost of the Council on Foreign Relations and was led by former O’Melveny partner and Secretary of State Warren Christopher until his passing in 2011.
Thompson is an of counsel in O’Melveny’s Silicon Valley office and a member of the Water Industry Practice Group. He is the Robert E. Paradise Professor of Natural Resources Law at Stanford Law School, the Perry L. McCarty Director and Senior Fellow of the Woods Institute for the Environment, and Senior Fellow (by courtesy) at the Freeman-Spogli Institute for International Studies.
