Vespremi to Speak on California's Electronic Discovery Act

September 16, 2009
O'Melveny associate Roberta Vespremi will be a guest panelist at the San Francisco Chapter of Women in eDiscovery's luncheon on September 16 in San Francisco, CA.  Vespremi will be speaking on the contours and effects of California's new Electronic Discovery Act, which was signed into law on June 29 and became immediately effective. The law amends the California Code of Civil Procedure and establishes procedures for the discovery of electronically stored information in California. The new e-discovery rules include significant provisions concerning the form and extent of production; impose strict limits on production; and address the issues of third-party subpoenas, privilege, and sanction safe harbors.  Other panelists include Karla Wehbe, Senior Information Resources Manager at Bechtel Corporation and Ann Marie Gibbs, Esq., Director of Litigation Consulting at Daegis.  Helen Streck, Records Management Consultant for Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP, will moderate the panel.
